IETE Jammu Sub-Centre holds AGM

JAMMU, June 11: Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Jammu Sub-Centre held its annual general body meeting for the year 2024-25 in hybrid mode at Chenab College of Education.
The meeting began with a welcome address by Dr Vijay Sharma, Chairman of the Sub-Centre, followed by a report from Dr Radhika Khanna, honorary secretary, outlining the various academic and technical activities carried out during the year. Tinny Sawhney, honorary treasurer, presented the annual balance sheet, which was unanimously approved by the members.
Maj Gen SK Sharma (Retired), Fellow IETE, proposed the establishment of Professional Activity Centres at key institutions including GCET, MBS College of Engineering, MIET, and SMVDU to boost student engagement.
Former Heads of Electronics Department, University of Jammu-Prof Rakesh Vaid and Prof Praveen Lehana-emphasized increasing member participation and organizing future events at GCET Jammu. Prof Pawanesh Abrol suggested integrating contemporary themes such as cloud computing and IoT into IETE’s agenda.
Dr Suresh Rao, vice chairperson, along with Prof Sumit Gupta (SMVDU) and Col CD Manotra, also contributed valuable suggestions for the Centre’s growth.
