Budgam clinches title in Inter-District UT-Level U-17 Boys Cricket Tourney

UDHAMPUR, Dec 18: The Inter-District UT-Level Under-17 Boys Cricket Tournament, organized by Department of Youth Services & Sports, UT of Jammu & Kashmir, under the patronage of Anuradha Gupta, concluded at Subash Stadium, here today. The final match saw Budgam defeating Anantnag by 36 runs to lift the championship title.
The final was graced by Saloni Rai, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, as chief guest, along with Prof Dr Sanjay Kumar Verma, Principal, Government Degree College, Udhampur and DySP DAR, Jatinder Sambyal as guests of honour. Budgam posted 168 runs for 8 wickets, with Waqqas scoring 55 runs and Faisal adding 23. In reply, Anantnag were bowled out for 143 runs, despite 42 runs from Owais Gulzar. Waqqas also took 4 crucial wickets, proving decisive for Budgam.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner emphasized sports as a tool for physical fitness, life skills and substance abuse prevention under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.” DYSSO Udhampur, Romesh Chander Mishra, expressed gratitude to the chief guest, selectors, coaches and officials.
